Starting a Blog
Have you been thinking about starting a blog? If so, it is a decision you are likely to find very rewarding, and also fun.
However, when starting your blog, there are some things you should consider.
Many people start a blog simply because they want to write and share their thoughts about a subject they feel passionate about. Initially this passion shines through in their posts, and they soon find they have a regular audience and returning visitors. The blog begins receiving comments and is even mentioned on Facebook and other Social Media sites.
At this stage, many bloggers begin looking into monetizing their blogs – often the first method recommended by other bloggers that they are eager to try is Google AdSense, This involves signing up for an AdSense account and once accepted, copying and pasting a piece of code into your site. Every time a visitor clicks on one of your ads, you will get around 60 percent (the exact amount has never been revealed, but most analysts agree it is around this percentage) of whatever the advertiser paid to place the ad. This ranges anywhere from a couple of cents to several dollars; depending on your niche.
The sad thing is, once a blogger sees their blog gets clicks on the AdSense ads, and starts earning a bit of pocket money here and there, their attitude changes. Monetizing a blog is practical, because it compensates you somewhat for your time, but you should not let it become the main focus of your blog, once you do this, your posts are likely to become unnatural. As you start targeting keywords and trying to make your posts attractive to search engines rather than visitors.
